Conventional Castables
Carolina Refractories produces a complete product offering of castables including low iron, basic fireclay, and high alumina. CAROCAST castables can be easily installed by casting, pouring, troweling and/or gunning.
Insulating Castables
Carolina Refractories offers a wide variety of insulating castables that can be used on a broad spectrum of applications. Carolina Refractories produces these castables under the CAROLITE brand and their advantages include lower densities, good volume stability, spalling resistance, thermal shock resistance and good insulating properties.
Low Cement Castables
Carolina Refractories manufactures a range of low cement and ultra-low cement castables that have an extended service life. Low cement and ultra-low cement castables are produced under the CAROCON brand name.
Gun Mixes
Carolina Refractories produces the CAROGUN product line that includes fireclay, high alumina, low iron, and insulating gunning mixes. Gunning mixes provide labor and time-consuming advantages as well as a lower thermal conductivity, elimination of forms, high resistance to deterioration and easy coverage of irregular surfaces.
Plastics & Ram Mixes
Plastics and Ram Mixes are essentially the same type of refractory. Carolina Refractories manufactures basic, fireclay and high alumina types. CARORAM products are installed by ramming the material in place which allows for ease of installation and requires no forms.
Mortar
Carolina Refractories manufactures, stocks, and supplies the two general classes of mortars used in the refractory industry. Our current list of CAROBOND mortar is made from both classes, Air-setting (wet and dry) and Heat-setting (wet and dry) are used with refractory brick to fill in joints and create a bond between brick.
Fire Bricks
Carolina Refractories is a distributor of all types of brick used in the refractory industry. Often used in high temperature applications, firebrick can be used as a lining or as a backup to monolithic refractories.
Ceramic Fiber
Ceramic Fiber is an excellent source of heat insulation for low to high heat temperature applications. NUTEC produces MaxWool Spun Ceramic Wool Blanket, Supermag Low Bio-Persistent Products, MaxBlok Modules, MaxBoard and all other types of ceramic based fiber products.
